"Music is a world within itself, with a language we all understand.”
- Stevie Wonder
Comprised of the finest musicians of West Islip and nearby communities, the West Islip Symphony Orchestra captivates and entertains audiences of all ages and cultures through the power of music.
Under the direction of our conductor, Maestro Paul Little, the orchestra aims to bring a unique and exciting take on the traditional symphony orchestra. From Mozart to Monk, Devo to Dvořák, Hollywood, the small screen, and everywhere in between, we want to share our music with all.
Our 2025-2026 season begins with some of the most memorable and haunting melodies ever written
From Bernard Hermann's music from the Alfred Hitchcock classic Psycho, to Saint-Saëns' beautifully devilish Danse Macabre, to Mussorgsky's fever dream that was Night on Baldn Mountain, the program will be an exciting and chilling mix of powerful and elegant.
But it's not all doom and gloom! We'll also bring some of the sublimely elegant with Domenico Cimarosa's Concerto for 2 Flutes in G major. A staple of the flute repertoire, and one of the most beloved double flute concertos, long-time West Islip Symphony members Michele Aweh and Concetta Stevens take a step out from being players in the orchestra to our latest featured soloists in a performance that will be sure to delight fans of some of the most beautiful flute playing you will ever hear!
